Why do my fingers feel numb and swollen at the call a halt of a long meander?
It's normal. It's because they are baggy downward for awhile and gravity pulls more fluid into them.
You better consult with a doctor. You might not be physically fit for strenuous physical accomplishments.
I'm not quite sure, but I know it have to do with blood flow running mostly to your legs and not as much getting to your fingers.
